BARA AGM 25th. MARCH 2008 MINUTES

PRESENT

Des Bradley, Cllr Paul Braithwaite, PS Amar Saggar, Tom Colechin, PC Stuart Jordan, Judy Sands, Howard Lee, Bill Chambers, Robert Boyce, Gudrun Sveinbjarnardottir, Pat Banks, John Banks, Frixos Constantine, David Prout, Luki Gramer, Paul Charman, Cathy Crawford, Philip Richmond Mayarel Hughes.

APOLOGIES

CRIME

PS Saggar reported that burglary in the area was significantly down since the last meeting. One break in at 39 Patshull Road.

Disturbances in Lawford Road mainly due to kids hanging around. Police dealing with this.

PC Jordan announced new courses for street wise kids in the next financial year.

Police advise use of fake burglar alarms effective as deterrence.

Kebab take away in Kentish Town Road has had late licence declined.

Car wash at junction of Endel & Camden Roads causing a problem, build up of cars queuing to get in.




CAR SHARING

Louise Wallace of Whizzgo cars failed to turn up and address the meeting.

Car sharing is now popular. Possible place to site new place would be Bartholomew Road at the affordable house new build or perhaps the Health Centre.

HEALTH CENTRE

Philip Richmond reported that the centre is ahead of schedule and should open in January. The Wigg practice is only a small part of the building. Paul B suggested that the police could move in there.

Concern that that there is insufficient signage to dissuade large lorries from using the area as a rat run. Not ones supplying the Health centre site but others.

GREEN ISSUES

John Banks reported that the sub group was more or less active but seeking direction for the future. Keeping in touch with other groups and also a small number have joined Carbon Action Rationing Group CRAG. Camden Crag details have been posted on the website.

Updated website also includes info about Insulation and plastic bags.

Discussion about Cosierge service run by Camden being value for money….jury is out.

OLIVER’S

Des B reported Oliver’s Estate Agent displaying unauthorised boards in the BARA area. David P suggested use of local government regulations to stop the practice. Meeting authorised Des B to take necessary action against Oliver’s.




BARA COMMITTEE AND CONSTITUTION

Ceri Sutherland reigned as member of the BARA committee.
Caroline Shenai resigned as treasurer of BARA.

Meeting decided not to have a treasurer unless the future activities of BARA demand it and not to vote anybody else on to the BARA committee.

Meeting decided to leave the constitution unchanged.

AOB

Auntie Annies is projected to be open with the Piano Bar in June.

Traffic light changes are still causing traffic jams on the high street.

There will be no pedestrian crossing at Bartholomew Road and Kentish Town Road according to TFL. However the three way crossing at Prince of Wales Road and Kentish Town Road will be realised…..at last!!!

Discussions are continuing with Abdul regarding the lease on the Village Store.

Des B said he would announce the next year’s meeting as soon as school holidays were known
